About Friendly Neighborhood Veterinarian
At the FNV, we are dedicated to using an integrative approach to keep your pet in peak health. This may include options such as Conventional medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, to name a few. At FNV, we believe that optimal health is a marathon and illness a pit stop. To this end, I offer a wide care portfolio and work with the living beings at both ends of the leash. My goal is to find the best solutions for your pet's health needs using all the tools available to us, so that you can enjoy your time with them!
About Me
I recall loving animals as far back as I can remember. I was raised in a family who loved pets and backyard animals, which gave me a sense of belonging in the natural world. It was no great surprise that I felt at home entering the field of veterinary medicine. Taking care of animals is my lifelong passion, and finding solutions to their healthcare needs, my training.
After graduating from Veterinary school in India, I worked for a few years in a mixed animal practice, before obtaining degrees in Animal Genetics, and Biology, with the goal of pursuing research. I loved research, but I also missed my interactions with my four legged companions. So, I continued volunteering in veterinary clinics throughout my higher studies. I cross trained in veterinary clinical and non clinical assignments, and managed a clinic at one point. I was greatly encouraged by my positive experiences into pursuing further clinical training in Canada. Finally, I obtained my licence to practice veterinary medicine in 2014!!
I found that I enjoyed various aspects of veterinary medicine, and have worked in animal shelters, veterinary general practice, animal emergency clinics and mobile vaccine clinics as a locum practitioner. As they say, variety is the spice of life!!
I learned that we face many limitations in our field of work, such as patient stress during visits, separation of pets from their families during examination and treatment, and sometimes limited response to treatment using a single approach. I now incorporate 'fear free' methods during appointments, apply dietary and environmental modifications, use conventional, Chinese and Ayurvedic herbal therapies, etc, in taking care of my patients. Nature and nurture are both important!!
I believe that you know your pet the best; together, we can explore avenues to give your four legged furry friends the gift of good health and well being. All in the comfort of their home. Welcome to the family!!
